Class Descriptions

  • Acro Arts—For students 6+. Focus on fundamental acrobatic technique, such as front and back walkovers, chin stands, hand balancing, and other contortion tricks. Emphasis will be placed on improving flexibility, balance, strength, & concentration. At a level II, students will learn advanced tricks such as back/front handsprings, arabians, ariels, and more. Acro II requirements: cartwheel, round off, splits (R/L/M), front/back walkover, front/back limber, and hand/head stand. All levels will learn and perform a collaborative piece in the winter show & the spring recital. Class placement will be at your instructor’s discretion.

  • Adult (Advanced) Tap—For students 18+ who have had at least 2 years of tap as an adult.  This class will sharpen reflexes, improve memory skills and enhance coordination. Classes will work toward continuing to perfect fundamental tap movements & vocabulary but will work toward more advanced syncopated rhythms and steps that progress into challenging dance combinations.

  • Pointe/Adult BalletInstructor approval required. This class is designed for dancers who have demonstrated the strength, technique, alignment, and maturity necessary to safely train en pointe. Students will continue to build upon their classical ballet foundation while focusing on pointe technique, balance, strength, artistry, and proper execution of steps both at the barre and in the center. Emphasis is placed on injury prevention, correct body placement, foot and ankle strength, and overall technical development.

  • Combination Classes (AUG-MAY)—Combination classes consist of Tap, Ballet, and Acro. Level 2 students will have Jazz added to this combination of genres. It is HIGHLY encouraged, based on our traditional school of thought, that each student takes combined classes. Education and exposure to tap, ballet, jazz, and acro are key to a well-rounded, well balanced, and most educated dancer. Click HERE to learn more about this. Beginner students 13+ may take style specific classes only but must choose at minimum 2 areas of study. Preschool classes are designed for dancers to participate independently without a parent or guardian present in the room and begin at age 2 for those ready for an independent learning environment.

  • Hip Hop 1 (Beginner)—For students 5-7. This class introduces dancers to the fundamentals of hip hop in a fun and energetic environment. Students will learn basic hip hop grooves, footwork, rhythm, coordination, and age-appropriate choreography while building confidence and musicality. Emphasis is placed on developing a strong foundation, proper execution of movements, and performance skills.

  • Hop Hop 2 (Intermediate)—For students 7-12. This class builds upon foundational hip hop skills by introducing more complex movement combinations, musicality, and performance techniques. Dancers will continue developing strength, coordination, style, and execution while learning intermediate-level choreography. Class will focus on improving retention, precision, dynamics, and confidence in a variety of hip hop styles.

  • Advanced Hip Hop—For students 13 & up. This advanced-level class is designed for dancers who have a strong foundation in hip hop and are ready for more challenging choreography and performance expectations. Dancers will explore advanced combinations, intricate footwork, musical interpretation, freestyle concepts, and a variety of commercial and street-style influences. Emphasis is placed on performance quality, versatility, musicality, stamina, and individual style while continuing to refine technical execution and artistry. Placement is by instructor recommendation and approval.

  • Contemporary 1—For students ages 8+. These classes will focus on technique while combining the strong but controlled legwork of ballet with modern that stresses on torso. It also employs contract release, floor work, fall & recovery, and improvisation characteristics of modern dance. Students will also be introduced to basic partnering skills.

  • Advanced Contemporary– This advanced-level class is designed for dancers with a strong technical foundation who are ready to further develop their artistry, versatility, and performance quality. Dancers will continue to refine contemporary technique through the integration of ballet, modern, and contemporary movement styles, with an emphasis on fluidity, control, musicality, and emotional expression. Class will explore advanced floor work, contractions and releases, fall and recovery techniques, improvisation, and dynamic movement phrases. Students will also develop partnering skills, movement composition, and creative exploration while challenging their strength, flexibility, and technical execution. Placement is by instructor recommendation and approval.

  • Technique & Conditioning– Build strength, control, and confidence in these focused training classes designed to improve overall dance performance. Dancers will work on proper technique including turns, jumps, extensions, and alignment, while also developing core strength, flexibility, and endurance through targeted conditioning exercises. These classes are perfect for dancers looking to refine their skills, prevent injury, and stay performance-ready. Technique & Conditioning 1 is designed for students ages 6-12. Technique & Conditioning 2 is designed for students ages 13 & up.

  • Dance Labs: Leaps/Turns– For students 8+. Take your jumps to the next level in this focused training class! Dancers will break down the fundamentals of leaps including takeoff, height, extension, and landing. Through drills, across-the-floor progressions, and strength-building exercises, dancers will improve power, flexibility, and control while working toward cleaner, more confident leaps. Great for dancers looking to strengthen their technique and elevate their performance quality. Spin with confidence in this technique-focused class dedicated to turns! Dancers will focus on spotting, balance, core engagement, and proper alignment while working on a variety of turns such as pirouettes, chainés, and more. With targeted exercises and progressions, dancers will build consistency, control, and precision to execute turns with confidence and ease. Perfect for dancers wanting to sharpen their turning skills and overall technique.

  • Jazz Study (SUMMER)—For students 7+. A strong emphasis on energy, rhythmical accuracy & style. Focus on strength, flexibility, conditioning, technique and progressions including turns, kicks and leaps.

  • Preparatory Ballet (SUMMER)— Anyone planning to transition to pointe shoes within the next two years, is encouraged to take this class. This class is designed for dancers who are preparing for pointe work while continuing to strengthen their classical ballet foundation. Emphasis is placed on proper alignment, placement, turnout, balance, core strength, ankle and foot conditioning, flexibility, and artistry. Dancers will work on refining ballet technique through barre and center exercises while developing the strength, control, and discipline necessary for safe progression to pointe. This class serves as a pre-pointe training course and is recommended for dancers who wish to pursue pointe work in the future. Enrollment in this class does not guarantee advancement to pointe, as dancers must demonstrate the required strength, technique, and maturity before being approved for pointe shoes.

  • Preschool & Kinder Dance Camp (SUMMER)— This course will encourage the exploration of movement using music and props to develop physical skills while channeling energy in a healthy way to nurture creative minds. This class will strengthen the imagination by engaging their visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile senses as they learn about their body and the space around them. Students will be introduced to basic acro skills focusing on flexibility, balance, strength, & concentration. Preschool classes are designed for dancers to participate independently without a parent or guardian present in the room and begin at age 2 for those ready for an independent learning environment.

  • Dance With Me (SUMMER/POP-UP CLASS)—For students 15 mos - 2 years of age. Assisted by their guardian in attendance, students will be introduced to the class setting; learning how to participate in a classroom environment, including taking turns and sharing props. This class offers an introduction of valuable skills such as listening, taking turns, standing in line, following directions, and much more!
